Welcome back to another great year of skiing and ski racing! We are looking forward to another fun and exciting year of practice, competition and being together as a team!
BEFORE REGISTERING, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CAN AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
I will register for SKIHAWK Team membership by completing the attached registration form. Early registration (post marked by Oct. 31) will be reduced to $100.00. Registration received after Oct. 31, will be $150.00. If you chose to register after Oct. 31, you must send a $50 deposit to the SKIHAWK Ski Team by NOVEMBER 20, 2016. Balance is due before ski season begins. See team membership for more information. Please see section on financial assistance if you are in need of financial assistance.
I have registered with Outdoors for All (separate billing and registration) and will attend seven weeks of lessons.
It is important to attend every lesson. Missing practice could result in not being able to participate in Regional and/or State games. Special Olympics has minimum training requirements to advance to State competition. You can register for Outdoors for All at www.outdoorsforall.org
I have a current medical release form on file at Special Olympics state office- deadline for winter sports program is JANUARY 10, 2017.
I will participate at the Regional Race at Snoqualmie in three events.
You must attend the Regional Race to advance to the State Winter Games. Special Olympics will make no exception to this rule.
I will compete in only one sport per season.
If you are on a basketball team, you will not be able to participate in Special Olympic snowsports. You may still take ski lessons thru Outdoors for All.
2016- 2017 IMPORTANT DATES:
January 4: Wednesday evening lessons begin
January 7: Saturday lessons begin
January 28: Regional Races (Saturday) Summit West
January 29: Make-up lesson for Jan.30 OFA lesson (Sunday)
February 12: Skihawks Invitational Race Summit West
March 3 -5: Winter Games at Mission Ridge
April 9: Annual Team Banquet
Information to follow on conditioning clinics.
Membership fee is $150.00
2016-2017 fee is $75.00 if registration is completed and post marked by Oct. 31.
Fill out form you should have received by e-mail and send in your check of contact if you will be using Visa/MC by OCTOBER 31 for early registration and NOVEMBER 20 2016 for final registration date. If you have not received a form or would like a form, contact Sandee Brock email@example.com or 206.285.1484
Instead of mailing, you can also email your registration, but if you want to pay with a credit card, please call us with your credit card information.
Complete a separate registration form for Outdoors for All. You can find on their website: www.outdoorsforall.org
We strongly recommend that you purchase the season pass offered by Outdoors for All. It saves you time and money as well as saving the team money for Invitational and Regional races.
If you would like a south end bus pick up point, you will need to choose the Outdoors for All Southcenter bus rather than the SKIHAWK bus.
OFA will be assigning the SKIHAWK bus this season and will take students on a first come first serve basis. We can take 41 athletes on the bus. Be sure to get both registrations in early if you want to ride the SKIHAWK bus. When the bus is full, you will be assigned to an Outdoors for All bus.
We recommend that you have your own equipment. This gives you the advantage of training on your equipment and avoids delays in the ski rental shop. Special Olympics does not provide skis at any competition and rental skis are not included in the SKIHAWK membership fees.
If you are an alpine racer or snowboarder, you are required to wear a helmet at Special Olympic races.
Please note: The SKIHAWK membership fee is in addition to Outdoors for All cost and includes:
Transportation to Invitational Race, Regional and State Competitions
Competition lift tickets/Track Passes for competitions
Team photo and certificate
SKIHAWK team pin
Fees for Winter Games
Team expenses such as snacks and postage
Team sweatshirt for first year racers
